OBITUARY.
MRS. OWEN MAHON. The interment took place yesterday at Waikaraka Cemetery of the remains of Mrs. Owen Mahon. Deceased was born at Wanganui 72 years ago, her father being the late Mr. John Willis, who had boon quartermaster of the 65th Regiment. She was married to the late LieutenantColonel Owen Mahon. Before her health became indifferent Mrs. Mahon was an active worker in connection with charitable and social societies. The following children survive: Mr. A. J. Mahon (member of Wanganui Education Board), Mr. H. J. D. Mahon (master at Auckland Grammar School), Messrs. Owen, J. A. and L. G. Mahon, also Mrs. H. E. Vaile, Miss Mahon and Miss R. M. Mahon. MR. JOHN WILSON. The death is announced at Katikati of Mr. John Wilson aged 87. This removes the last but three of the first settlers who came, to that district in September 1875, deceased being a member of the first party which arrived-in Auckland by the Carisbrooke Castle. He was a native of County Tyrone, Ireland, ana held positions under the Katikati Road Board. His wife pre-deccased him 17 .vcars ago. -AIR.- "CLARK JOHNSON, News was received from Wellington to-day of the death of Mr. Clark Johnson. Mr. Clark Johnson was well known in Auckland, as he for a number of years occupied an important position in the local branch of the X.Z. Loan and Mercanile Agency. He was subsequently transferred to Australia, and returned to Wellington to take the position of manager of the branch in that city. MR. T. W. WINTER IN HIS 102 nd YEAR", (Tty Telegraph.-Press Association! CHRLSTCHURCH, this day. The death is announced of Mr. Thomas "William Winter (better known by his professional name "Melchior" Winter), in his 102 nd year. He arrived in Xe\v Zealand in the "sixties. - ' Mr. Winter was well known in musical circles, first making a professional appearance, in Australia, where he took part in lio-ht and grand opera. He first sanf°in Ohristeburch in 1573 and his "final appearance on the public platform was during the 1000 Jubilee Exhibition. Deceased is said to be the only son of Tom Spring, champion pugilist of England. , MR. A. S. ORBELL. (By Telegraph.—rrpss Association.^ DUNEDIN, this day. The dentfl is announced of Mr. A. SOrbell. of Waikouaiti, prominently connected with the Farmers' Union 'and a member of the Board of Agriculture. He was also keenly interested in the turf, and owned and raced several horses.
