MR.HOLMES ENTERTAINED
(By Telegraph.—Tress Association.) TAURANGA, this day. A ropreswitative gathering of officials of tho Public Works Department and public bodies in Bay of Plenty and the public of Tauranpa last evening entertained Mr. J. D- Holmes, who has resigned t'hq position of district engineer. Eulogistic references were made to the energy Mr. Holmes had put into public works during the brief time he bad been in charge here, and general regret was expressed that the Government had failed to make a reasonable attempt to retain its officers. Opportunity was also taken to welcome Mr. F. S. Dyson, who succeeds Mr. Holmes. Mr. Holmes was presented with a gold wristlet watch from members of tho Department.
