The High Commissioner's cablo dated London, August 2."), is as follows: — Tho fifteenth series of (-overnment wool sales commenced bust night with a large attendance. Competition was more general, especially from the Continent than for several months past. Compared with closing rates of tlie last London series, the prices, of fine merinos were 5 per cent to 7. ]>er cent dearer. Other descriptions were unchanged; crossbreds, fine, par to 5 per cent dearer; medium, unchanged; coarso, neglected and largely withdrawn. There arc 90, 000 bales shown of wools available for thq series of which 18,000 arc New Zealand
