SIR W.KENNAWAY DEAD.
(Received 1 p.m.) LONDON, AugUßt 27. The death is announced fo Sir Walter Eennaway.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.) Sir Walter Kennaway was for many years Secretary to the Department of the High Commissioner for New Zealand, in London. He was born in England, but . camo to New Zealand at an early age in 1853, and had a notable public career before returning to London in 1874 as Secretary to tho Department of the Agent-General. He was a member of the Provincial Council oi Canterbury, and was also Provincial Secretary and Sec rotary of Public Works, undertaking the lonßtruction of the first railways under 6ir Julius Vogel's scheme.
