I In the semi-final of the 100-metre I swimming race the time of W. H.-Herald (New South Wales I wag 04 4-.is. being equal to Norman Ross, but he was placed third, though the general opinion was that he came second. Hay, Herald, Stedman, and Kirkland. qualified in the final of the SOO metres (nearly half a-mile), relay race, being second in the first heat, Iβ seconds behind America. The final will take place on Sunday., Beaurepaire, Hay, Stedman, and Herald representing Australia. Tin; coldness of the water is troubling the Australians, none swimming to form. Beaurepaire, who was beaten by 4fl yards in the 1500 metres (1640 yds) race, was stiff with the cold when he left the water. The final of the ladies' 100 metres swimming race was won by Miss Bleibtrey (America), in 73 3-5 seconds, breaking her own Monda's record. Miss AValrond (New Zealand) finished fifth. Details of the 1500 metres swim show that after a false start, the fight began between Vernot. Beaurepaire and Ross. That order was maintained to the sixth lap. when Ross drew level with Vernot. Beaurepaire falling back. From then on Rose drew rapidly away, and at the tenth, lap was a dozen yarda in front of Vernot, who was the same distance ahead of Beaurepaire. Ross won by twenty metres. The men's diving competition was won by Vallman (Sweden) and the second, third and fourth places were filled by Swedes. The 400 metres breastroke event resulted: Molmoth (Sweden) 1, Henning I (Sweden) 2. Aaitooner (Finland) •"!. Time lim 31 4-ss. The boxinjr contests resulted:—Flyweight: Dv Oanna.ro CArnerica).
