LABOUR DAY SPORTS
The Labour Day Sports Committee is putting a particularly strong programme before I athletes this year, as will be seen from the advertisement published last Saturday. The feature of the bill is the catering for amateurs in the fine prizes offered for pedestrian events, including. 100 yds, 150 yds, 220----yds. quarter and half-mile races, and mile, two-mile and three-mile cycle races. There are also very attractive open events for runners and cyclists, tale* prizes ranging from two guineas for the apprentices' handicap up to the Labour Day Handicap, the winning of which will give the successful athlete £10, with an addition of 10/ for each competitor in the sweepstake. A primary schools' championship and dancing and ladies' races are also provided. Nominations will close with, the secretary at the Trades Hall, on Friday. October 1, and acceptances on October 15. j
