MR. W. A. PARKINSON

Sincere regret was felt on receipt of news of the death on Monday, after an operation, in I-ondon, of Mr. YV. A. Parkinson, senior proprietor of the Hawera •Star.'' Air. Parkinson came trom Australia in the early "seventies," and after being connected with the Wellington '-Times," joined the "Hansard.'' staff. He became editor of the Hawera "Star" about 189G, and subsequently bought out the paper, which he continued to edit until 1913, when a private company was formed, of which he was governing director. He went Home in April last for a short trip. His illness was brief and his death was quite Unexpected. Deceased leaves a daughter (Mrs. Page, of Hawera) and three sons.
