CRICKET IN ENGLAND.
KENT STILL IN THE LEAD. LONDON, August. 15. Cricket experts are highly delighted with the splendid form of the players selected lor the Australian tour. Unfortunately Spooner is unable to piny regularly, _n account, it is believed, of a slight weakness of his knee. It is feared that he will be unable to assist Lancashire again. Good judges consider that English cricket is 50 per cent above the 1010 form, and is now fully equal to the pre-war standard. A special feature is the brilliancy of the fielding, particularly u.nong the players for Australia, whose clean gathering and accurate and lightning returns render anything like .-hr.rt runs a source of positive danger to batsmen. Surrey defeated Lancashire by __21 runs. Fender (Surrey) in the first innings took -1 wickets for 35 runs, and in the second 'innings five for 03. Parkin (Lancashire) in the second innings took . tive wickets for 77 runs. Tlie championB ship order now is:—Kent, 1; Yorkshire, i_; Surrey, 3; Middlesex, 4. Lancashire, 5.
