BEACH ESCAPADES.

I BY HOYS AT PONSONHY. The escapades of four Ponsonby boye on the waterfront between Heme Bay and Cox's Creek brought them before Mr. E. .T. Wilson, S.M., at the Juvenile Court this morning, where they had to face charges ranging from m'achief and the unauthorised interference with •boate up to theft. The lads were of ages from eleven to fourteen years, and the oldest of them had apparently been the moving sprit in shifting n dinghy from an adjacent beach to Heme Bay, and using it to range the waters and beaches thereabouts, visiting launches and yachte -whore- they interfered with gear and tool«. and in one case one of them shifted a IG-foot yacht round a couple of headlands, and sold the ruaets, spars jand for 30/. The oldest boy wan '"put on probation for twelve months, and the others for six months, wh'Je orders were mnde against the parents for sums ranging up to £2 apiece for damage done, which included the crushing-in of the rile pt the dinghy by a fail of earth from a ■bank under which the boat had been beached. Another small boy who had interfered with and shifted a dinghy at Cox's Creek 4 with the result that other boys found it abandoned and moved it further on. was admonished and discharged, with an order of costs against his guardian.
