STEAMER ASHORE.
CREW LANDED SAFELY,

WiANGAN-UI, Monday.
The small steamier Aorere, bound frpm Blenheim to Wanganui, went ashore during a heavy gale on the Rangitikei Beach. The crew landed eafely. Last night the vessel encountered very heavy« sene and began to leak, it being impossible to keep up eteam. An attempt was made to sail the vessel but this proved .to be a failure, and she was blown on to the beach.
Latest information is that the Aorere in in a good position, and hopes are entertained that eho> can foe floated off.
Captain J. Crotty was in command at the time of the mishap.
