BOLSHEVISTS IN PERSIA
ADVANCING ON RESHT.
TO ENCIRCLE BRITISH FORCE.
AN APPEAL FOR HELP.

LONDON, May 23. The latent Caspian advices show that the Bolsheviks are breaking their undertaking under the armistice not to advance beyond Enzeli, on the Caspian Sea. Additional troops have landed at Ghaziu, on the South Caspian coast, transported by small war vessels. Without warning the town was shelled, and tlie troops then landed and seized the interior communications. The "Reds"" are now apparently encircling Resht, 40 miles to tho southward, to which the British retired from Enzeli. The Persian Foreign Minister, interviewed in Paris, declared that Persia wns entitled to expect help from Britain, though the claim was not based on any contractual obligation. The Bolshevising of Fersia was not feared, but under the "Red" cloak tribal marauding and brigandage is 'likely to find cover, and produce anarchy in which Britain's interests will be seriously threatened.— ("Times.")
