LARGE CROWDS EXPECTED,
CONFERENCE OPENS TO-MORROW.
| To-morrow "Farmers' Week" Will comimence, and in the streets of the city, 'conditional on the weather recovering a ! little, the tillers of the land, their wives and families will be seen in large numbers* the men in the morning on their way to the annual meeting of the Farmers' Union Trading Co„ and in the afternoon the Provincial Conference, which is to open at 2 o'clock in the Town Hall Concert Chamber. Last year's total influx of 1000 is going to be doubled if the expectations of those directly in touch with arrangements are realised. Tlie conference will open with the president's (Mr. Jas. Boddie) address, usually a fairly lengthy compilation, on which there is sure to be a. fair amount of discussion. Then follows the consideration of remits, a host of which, ranging from union reorganisation to farmers' political party, and taking in the usual list of subjects that come up for annual consideration.
Present indications are that the conference will come to a close.on Friday afternoon.
