TRAMS CRASH.
OX BEACH ROAD. A tramway smash in which a stationary tram car fared very badly, v the platform at the back being torn completely away, took place near the foot of the Parnell bill last evening at about 7.45. Both cars were outward hound from the city to the Epsom depot, the front one having come to a standstill through an accident that cut the lights off. The sec/Mid car was evidently proceeding lit normal epeed, when the headlight? of a motor car pacing in the opposite direction temporarily blinded the motorman's view of everything in the foreground, with the result that hi.car crashed into the one ahead, with the result stated. Rain also contributed towards the accident. There were eeveral passengers in the cars, all of Whom eecaped injury, while the motormen and conductors also escaped. Tin* damaged car proceeded to a point about half-way up the hill, and then came to a standstill, another car from Uartield Street haringe to be requisitioned to push it on the journey to the depot. A delay of at least half an hour occurred through the mishap.
