NEW LYNN WATER SUPPLY.
TO COST £15,500. At tne meeting of the Town Board last evening, the water engineer, Mr. J. Rogers, submitted his pcheine to instal a water" supply for the district. He favoured a direct service from toe city mains as against a service reservoir with reticnilution mains from the city supply. The intersection!* of Marjran Avenue and Titirangi Road were considered the most favourable points of connection, ilargan Avenue being practically the centre line of the district, and lending itself to systematic reticulation over the present populated area. The population was accepted as approximately 1.100, .but provision had been made for a population of 7500. The scheme was designed to supply tbat population at :!."> gallons per head per day, with ample provision for manufacturing purposes, while the pressure would vary from KJOlb to Gslb per square inch. It would bs necessary to erect a. "workshop on ;i central site. The complete scheme involved an estimated expenditure of £15,500, which amount covered engineering charges and supervision. The estimate waa based on present prices of material and labour, and the work would extend over a period of twelve months. The board, favourably received the report, which ■was adopted.
