The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated May 16, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand In London :- I Meat.—l-Toiu the 17th of May the following wholesale prices have been fixed for New Zealand mutton: —Mutton: Cut ewes. ;7d Ib; uncut ewes, Sd lh; cut wethers and leg.-. Sd la; uncut wethers and tegs, "Jd. Australian, jd a lh less, except for uncut wethers and tegs, which remain at 9d. Lamb: No change in price. 1/1; retail prices 'rep from control. Butter. —The average price for English butter is :;>2j lb; Itlsu creamery, £16 lti/ per cwi: f.utory. ilj per crwt. The Ministry of I'ood announces that in view of flic lower prices and the Increasiiing supplies, rationing will be abolished on ihe-.3')ih of May. but the present maximum wholesale a nil retail fixed prices for Go\'eminent- controlled butter will remain in 'force. ■Hemp.—The Manila market is quiet, and prices are slightly weaker, but at the cloee moderate business was done at a decline, present quotations for "J" grade are: — January-March shipment, £66; FebruaryApril and March-May shipments, £65, sellers; AprlWune to July-September shlpmente sold at £Co. The New Zealand closing quotations were:—High points, spot £.i!), Kebrnary-Aprll shipment £04 and £.:yJ. respectively. Honey—Xo change since last report.
