Professor W. S. Vemon left by last nipht's express for Wellington. The Hon. C. J. Parr, Minister of Education, deferred his visit to Auckland until to-morrow. . The Hon. Newton, Professor of Colo- | nial History in the University of London, arrives in Auckland on the 22nd inst., when he will be met hy the Professorial Board and the University College Council.
Mr. J. W. Hadfield. agricultural instructor at the Seddon Technical UolWe. Auckland, has resigned in order to take up the management of the Moa Seed Form, Roxburgh, Central Otago. This has been started by the Government for the to-operative growing of seeds by returned soldiers on the co-operative principle. Mr. M. B. Mergcntheim, who died while on a visit to Rotorua, was lion, cci". of the Sydney Repatriation Committep. He came to Xew Zealand under a commission of the Commonwealth Minister of Repatriation to investigate the system in the Dominion. Deceased 6pent several months in Xew Zealand collecting data, when he was seized with, pneumonia, and died aftar a few days' illness.
