CROQUET.
CABLTO_ CROQUET CLUB. *The eleventh annual meeting of the Carlton Croquet Club took place on Wednesday afternoon, when the —.embers attended In force, representing quite 80 per I-cent, of the roll of membership. The president <M_s. W. Perry) occupied the chair. The annual reports as read by,the secretary and treasurer disclosed a very, i satisfactory state of affaire, both trout a social' and a financial standpoint. An ' energetic committee of ladles promoted several card afternoons, and •'progressives" for the purpose of assisting the I club's funds, and were very successful. The club- asset- bare been Increased as a reI suit of the past season's activities by some I £3— Special reference was made to the I success attained by the club during the season In tournament and Inter-club games. I The tournament of .the Auckland Association provided many interesting and spirited games, and of the Carlton players who competed Ale—lame» Kewsnam and Kirk finished flrst and second in the B grade, competition; while In the open tournament, held on the United Club's lawn*, the open championship was .won by the-club.presi-dent (Mrs. 1 W. Ferry), Mrs. Wart-, being -runner-up. Further honours were carried off by Mesdames Fearnley and I—tlton, who won the open doubles.", i _•_"._-i-- [ A proposal for enlargement of the clubs i greens met with unanimous approval, and ■ this matter was left In, the _and» of" the ' green committee to proceed with the. work. The election of officers for tbe ensuing year resulted as follows:—President, Mrs. i,W. Perry (re-elected); vice-presidents, Mrs. Dalton and Mrs. Snowdon; 'honorary secretary, Mr. B. S. Lawrence; aS__ttnt-—>c-retary, Mrs. War—: hon. treasurer, Mrs. v | Moodle; hon. auditor, Mr. W. Ferry. The club's championship for the past season was ; won by Mrs. W. Ferry and the handsome shield was duly presented to, the winner by the vice-president (Mrs. Snowdon) who congratulate- her on tbe unique perform-' a_—i of having won tho premier competition for the Afth time. The runner-up Was Mrs, Cahlll. Prltej, were also presented, to the following winners of clnb competitions, -via.■:—• A grade: Handicap singles, Mts. Warm; handicap, doubles. Mesdames Warm and Wilson. B grade: Handicap singles, Mrs: Hammond; handicap doubles, Mesdames Fielder and Goodman. - The season's progressive matches aggregate was topped by Mrs. Wilson, and the consolation was won by Mrs. White.
