The People's Co-operatrvc StoreOrganisation have now completed their preliminary arrangements as previously advertised for starting their co-opera-tive stores in Auckland, and their'campaign goes into operation from to-day. Commencing from the D. Reid Stores in Wellesley Street, Khyber Pass, and Quay Street, the promoters plans are to open branches throughout all suburbs and to supply all classes of food commodities on the co-operative principle of refundin? the prpfits of the 'business as bonus dividends oh purchases. The promoters arc fully confident that their campaign here will be as great a success as similar concerns in England, Canada. U.S.A.. etc.. ' where co-operative trading •' is already providing savings to customers of from three gbillinjrs to four shilling* in the pound. The complete plans for the Auckland enterprise embody a comprehensive list of- very excellent features, and when fully established will undoubtedly provide the finest storekeeping service in Xew Zealand apart from the many benefits of economic, and savings which the system will bring into operation. The whole scheme i_ a very interesting'proposition, and the splendid principles involved should induce every housewife interested in reducing the cost of living to give it all the support possible. A house-to-houee canvass' is to be inaugurated to fully demonstrate the principles, policies, and benefits of the movement, but as this will naturally take some time to cover the whole of the districts, anyone interested may get full particulars at any of the stores now in operation, or literature will be sent on rajuest by writing to the secretary.
