Two of the horses were drowned and one member of the Lyric Quartet had a narrow escape from drowning, the wagonette going under water with the .Concert Company's gear. Two lady members of the party had a terrible experience and are now in bed. The Whole of the members of the "party, are staying at settler..-,' houses at Taylor's flat. A doctor has been sent for on account of the ladies and one of the male members who was nearlydrowned. The Lyric Quartet Party consists of Messrs. A. Ripley, H. Richards, A. McElwain, A. Ryan,. Mrs. Ripley and Miss Jessie (Bartlett. They had completed their engagement with the Chatauqua Company and had started on a New Zealand tour on their own account.
