PARNELL SCHOOL FINANCES.

SPECIAL GRAXT KEQdBED. At the meeting of toe ParrieH School Committee, presided over by Mr. J. W. Mitchell last evening, the financial position of the school was diacuaaed. The secretary stated that, if the. preaent liabilities trere met, the committee would have a debit balance and -could not be •Mc to meet the liabilities for the approaching two months, estimated at £45, as* the next grant was not due until Jnly 31. The grant for the June quarter had been reduced from £43 to £23 owing to mn advance having keen made to the late committee in order that it might meet the increased expenditure. The following resolution was carried unanimously: "That the Education Board be asked* to provide a special grant of £50 to allow the committee to meet expenditure to the end of July' and that the Board be notified that failing sufficient money being granted, the committee will be unable to continue the present services in connection with the cleaning and lighting of the school." The committee also resolved to draw the attention of the Education Board to the advantage of physical culture in the schools given by properly trained instructors appointed by the Department.. Several of the members advocated the distribution of cocoa to the children, a scheme which is being carried out with success by other schools. The matter was left hi the 'hands of the chairman.
