TO BE RESTORED WITH OIL. BUHXING STEAMERS. ■ It has been decided by the Union Company to restore the Sydney San Francisco ■hipping aerviee, whicto, owing to the war and requisition*>f the company's steamers by the Government, had to be discontiriued. The service will be resumed by the iteamers Mauijganui and Tahiti, and the route will be via, Wellington) Rarotonga and Tsdirti; The first vessel —the Mannganui — will leave Sydney, on Jfovember 25. and thereafter a regular aionthly service will be run. Conjointly with t&B restoration of-this service it m§ svnnounced by the - Union Company at •Sydney last - week that an . oil supply depot it to be erected adjoining the company's coal depot at. Ball's Head,, Sydney. The: steamer. Niagara; of "the company' 3 Vancouver service,' bums oil; the Makura. of the same line, is to "be" converted to oil Immediately, whilst the Tahiti and the Maunganui are now being converted to oil fuel at San"tfranciico and Port Chalmem respectively. Notwithstanding the: great ehortage of oil, the company anticipates no difficulty in obtaining adequate supplies, and arrangements have been made for the importation of regular consignments. 'The first' shipment-is . being brought to Sydney by the steamer Waiteaoata, which left San Francisco on April 28.with 1000 tone stored in her-ballast tank. The Union Company's hulk Adderley is being converted into an oil-store' ship at Wellington: for. the replenishing of fuel supplies at this end of the route.
