TEACHERS' SALARIES.
REQUEST FOR BOXUS. (By Telegrapli.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON", Thursday. In view of the fact that an announcement has been made of the payment to various departments of the Civil Service of a cost-of-living bonus, and that no similnr announcement has been made in regard to members of the teaching profession, the following telegram was today dispatched to the Minister of Edu"Wc observe the statement in the Press that a bonus is being paid to officers of various departments of the Civil Service, but no similar announcement has been made regarding teachers. We trust that in justice to a class of public servants who in many instances live in conditions most unfavourable, you will safeguard their interests by arranging for the simultaneous payment of the bonus to them also."
The telegram was signed by Mr. T. Foreyth, president, and Mr." G. L. Stewart, secretary, of the Education Boards' Association.
