PRINCE'S QUIET MORNING.

CHEERED BY WATERSIDERS. PLAYS GOLF ON ONE TREE HILL. The Prince of Wales' return to Auckland this morning was a. quiet affair in comparison with his arrival nearly a week ago. Probably he was glad that there were no shouting crowds, guards of honour, and the other usual accompaniments of a Royal progress. The Royal train pulled into Auckland station about 8 a.m., and the Prince at once went aboard H.M.s. Renown. There were not many people about, but as he went down the wharf the waterside workers were quick to notice him, and cheered heartily, the Prince acknowledging their enthusiasm by raising his hat.

After breakfast H.R.H. motored out to the Maungakiekie Golf Club's links at One Tree Hill, and played a, quiet round of 18 holes with Lord Louis Jlountbatten and Commander Godfrey Thomas. H. R. *Blair, the club's professional, accompanied the party and showed them the course. Afterwards the Prince signed the visitors' book in the pavilion and chatted with some lady members of the club who happened to be there. He expressed himself as very pleased with the course, and said that he had enjoyed himself very much, and would come again if possible. The visit was quite informal, and the Prince was not bothered by intrusive spectators. The only demonstration was a cheer from the ladies as he drove away from the pavilion. The Prince returned to H.M.S. Renown for lunch.

DISAPPOINTED CHILDREN. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Officers of the Education Boards' Association and. federated school committees have issued a joint appeal to railwaymen on behalf of children who have been working hard to receive the Prince, and now will"be bitterly disappointed.
