SEASON OPENS TO-MORROW. The football season, in three codes, opens at Auckland to-morrow. At -tne Olympic Fund Carnival on the Domain, the chief event in each of the codes will be put on as a special attraction. At the weekly meeting of the A.R.Tj. executive Inst night a request from the Thames Union "for & match nt Auckland oil July 3 was referred to the iiatch Committee, with power to act. It was decided to support a proposal by the Rangltlkei, Tauuiarunul, and Ruapehu sub-unions to amalgamate and form a new unlou under the name of the Main Trunk Union. Te Awamutu and Waihi sub-unions were granted affiliation with the A.R.U.

Practice grounds for Saturday were allotted as follows:—University, Nos, 1 ana 2 Eden 'Park: Newton, No. 3 Eden Park; Grammar School, Nos. 1 and 2 Show Ground. Mr. Wetherllt was appointed referee for the College Rifles—Grafton match at the Domain on Saturday.

It was decided to weigh the junior and fourth and fifth grade teams at Eden Park at 2 o'clock on Saturday afternoon.

Owing to the closing of the schools all dates for welghing-ln and entries Cor the primary schools matches are postponed till further notice.

AUCKLAND LEAGUE. The Audtland League met on Thursday nigiit. Mr. J. Carlaw, chairman, presided. The Referees' Association recommended that Mr. J. -Freeman be appolnetd sole selector for referees for the season. Thin was carried with complimentary remarks. A deputation from the Waterside Workers' Band waited on the League, and It was decided that a senior match be piayefi (City v. Ponsonby) on the Domain on Saturday, May 8, to assist the band funds. It was arranged that a curtain-raiser (Richmond v. Maritime) be played at Victoria Park on Saturday. The Maritime trip to Taumarunul was reported as a. great success. One of the greatest crowds recorded witnessed the match. Several strong clubs are now formed, and several others are expected. The prospects of the League game in the King Country looks very promising for this season. The following are the senior draws for Saturday, May B:—Newton v.
