Tiie New Zealrtnd brandi of the llanefiester Unity Oddfellows -will hold its Biennial Movable Conference ln Auckland Curing Baster. .Messrs. F. W. Watt, Grand Master, John Kershaw, Corresponding Secretary, il. "¥l. Godtoer, treasurer, and various members of the board, of directors are arriving by the Wellington express on Tuesday afternoon next. Delegates are attending from tbfl following districts, viz.: — Ashhurtoii. Atihley, Hawke's iliay, Marllioroiigh, .Tdotuekn, Nelson, 'New Plymouth, Xorth Canterbury, United Westland, "Wan-Kanul, W-ellington and Auckland. A public reception ls to be given to tbe visiting delegates by the Mayor, at noon on Tuesday. April 6, in the Town Hull. The approaching conference has been looked forward to with interest by the Auckland brethren, it Is 10 years since the conference met In Auckland and many changes have since taken place in Che Friendly Society movement. The New Zealand branch of tbe Manchester Unity Oddfellows has most creditably discharged its obligations to its soldier memhers, by paying the whole of the contributions nnd benefits of the members while on active service, entnilincr the expenditure Of a large sum of money Tor the payment of contributions, sick pay, funeral allowances, and medical nnd hospital benefits for the dependents of soldier members. It is satisfactory to know thnt this liabilityhas heen met by direct levy upon tbe membership, and that the ordinary funds of Ihe society have been left intact. The ioeal memhers are determined to make the visit of Southern brethren a pleasurable one. nn energetic committee having for seeks been engaged on the matter of providing suitable entertainment for the Tisltors.
