RAILWAYMEN'S ACCIDENT PAY.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —AYe w-Lsh in fairness to the Rall-j way Department and to the Frankton branch of the A.S.R.S. to correct an error which appeared in an account of en interview re railway conditions. 1 Your representative misconstrued our remarks re accident pay. in which he stated we received -pay "for only two week*," whereas il should have read that no employee receives accident pay "unless injured for at least two weeks." In addition, the department only allows one pound for medical expenses to cover the first visit to or from a medical man. and disclaims all liability over and above that amount. The public generally will thus realise how unfair this is as, an employee conld be drawing an average of six or seven shillings per day, halfpay, six days per week and be paying a medical man ten and six per day seven days per week for medical attendance. —We arc, etc., FRANKTON PUBLICITY COMMITTEE, Per W. Hendry.
