POLICE COURT.
I ( Before Mr. J. \V. Poynton, S.M.) . I DRUNKENNESS. ! James Scullion (39), found put drunk i for the second time within six months, was fined 20/. Three first offenders forfeited bail. William Ferguson (34). for committing an indecent act in the street when he was drunk was fined 40/. J Robert Batten (34) admitted having ' been found drunk on Saturday and haviing broken bis prohibition order several [times within the last month. He was I convicted and committed to Rotoroa : Island for twelve months. ! HIS POOR LEGS. '"I had rheumatics in my leg," declared Alfred Xeill Gass (60), who was charged with having been disorderly while drunk in Queen Street last night. Constable Hodgins stated that Gass had tried to push into a motor-car that two ladies who were strangers to him were getting into, and that when he wa3 shifted on he went along sticking people up, ehaking hands with them and telling them all about himself, although they declared I they were all strangers to him. Gass said that on account of having rheumatics he stopped people to find out where a boardinghousc was. The constable obliged him by taking him in a car to the police station. He was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon.
