I WELLLNGTOX, Friday. > Two members of the British Davis Cup . team who are touring Xew Zealand, , played single matches with Xew Zealand ; players at Wellington this afternoon. [ The English players were Messrs. A 11. i Lowe and A E. Beamish and the Xew Zea- ; land players matched against them . were Messrs. Ollivier, Xew Zealand cham- , pion, and .T. C. Peacock, ex-champion. Both New Zealand representatives were beaten quite decisively, but neither of , them were disgraced. Peacock was , beaten' in two straight sets by Lowe, | but the second set ran to 9—7. OUivier won the middle set from Beamish, 6—l. Details of the play are as follows:— ! Lowe beat Peacock, 9—7, 6— 2; Beamish j beat Ollivier, 6— 3, I—6, 6—2. In the match between Lowe and Peacock, Lowe won 15 games and Peacock , nine. Lowe won 83 strokes and Peacock 68. Beamish won 13 games and Ollivier 11. Beamish won 88 strokes and Ollivier 85.
