INCREASED BUILDING COST.
,» CONTRACT HELD IP. (By Telegraph—-Press Association.) CHRISTCStmCrI. Friday. A deputation from the Rangier* High School Board Of Governors Waited on Sir Francis Bell to-day and informed aim that owing to the increasing cost of Cement and other building material th« contractors for the new High School at Ranigora were not prepared to prOOeed with the contract unless the G#rernmfflt guaranteed to cover any further rise in the cost of material required. The chairman said the contract would have been all right and the work almost completed if cement had been available. Sir Francis Bell said he thought it would be a dangerous precedent to grant the request. All contractors must take risks against increased prices and labour. However, he could not make any definite annonruceiiient. He would lay the deputation's representations before Mr. C. J. Fair, Minister of Education.
