WOMEN IN CHURCH.
EIGHT Or SPEECH REJECTED.
(Received 11.40 a.m.) rW*
LONDON, February 12.
The Lower House of Convocation rekrtcd the suggestion to allow women to speak and pray in consecrated buildings at non-liturgical services. It was re-, solved that in view of St. Paul's statement on the subject and the Church s uniform practice in the past it was undesirable to grant permission. I The Convocation formally dwelled the Welsh bishops. The Primate alluded to the changes in Convocation, due to recent legislation operating a few montn» hence, and said that this constituted a. great event in the Church's history, but they must face the fact that Parliament, the Convocation and religious life in England were not what they were in Tudor an.l Stuart days. The old solutions would not work, yet the dangers to the National Church under the ne« sys-tem-could not be ignored. — (A. ana Sp Cable.)
