SEASON OF GRAND OPERA.
■ J. C. Williamson, Ltd.. announce for a season of 18 nights, a musical attraction ot tue highest importance in the appearance here of the Grand Opera Company, which will open at His Majesty's Theatre in _-ounod s masterpiece "Faust" with the popular Australian prima'donna Miss Amy Castles as Marguerite, and the noted tenor, Ralph Errolle, as Faust. During the first week the following operas will he played:--Faust," Tales eif Hoffman'' (Sr.t time here), La Boheme," '-.Madame Butterfly" •e-aval!ena Rusticana," and "I Pa-V liueci." a.\>r the second and third weeks are promised "Carmen," "La Tosea,'' Ui Lammermoor." and "II Trovatore" It is certain that never before has been offered so generous and artistic a repertoire. 'Numerically, there are .■something like 150 people concerned in the productions, an orchestra of picked instrumentalists, with a chorus of 50 voices. It takes practically three companies to interpret the entire repertoire nnd when an opera is repeated the east is changed. ■Judging by its receptions j n Wellington and Christchurch, the company has made a success in those cities, the result of which is likely to be lasting. The box plans for the first week of the season open at Wildman and Arev's next Monday morning.
