PROFICIENCY IN TYPING.
An interesting demonstration of the highly perfected art of touch-typing wus given this morning in the reporters' room of the- "Star" olliee by Jlr. H. 0. Blnisdell, of Chicago, ex-world champion of the professional division of business typists, ilr. Blaisdell lias won the championship on two separate occasions —in l!) 10 and in 1011, competing against all comers.
He performed a nunvber of typewriting feats this morning before an interested assembly, the most remarkable being that of writing 210 words of memorised mutter in one minute, while that of recording SM impressions in one minute is no light task. Mr. Blaisdell carried on a genial conversation as to the nature of his work, and, as a side-line, wrote 119 words of memorised matter. From a book that happened to be lying on a table in the oflicc, Mr. Blaisdell was able to transcribe 112 words with the utmost accuracy, while, from a wellknown ,yct non-memorised contest copy, Kls words of transcription were possible.
