ENGINEERS' STRIKE.
DEADLOCK CONTINUES. MANY SHIPS PAID OFF. (Received 10.35 a.m.) ~f, SYDNEY, this day. The shipping strike deadlock continues. Many masters and officers have been paid off and the ships laid up. Burns Philp and Co. announce that so far no offer has been received from the engineers io purchase the Island fleet, but the company is prepared to consider the offer when it is made. The company has purchased a 5000ton steamer, registered and manned in England, for the Kastern trade.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
