COUNTRY RACING.

INCREASES WANTED. IN TOTALISATOR PERMITS AND RACING DAYS. BILL FOR PARLIAMENT. A large mid representative meeting of racing, trotting and hunt clubs' delegates was held on Saturday in the office of the Avondale Jockey Club in response to a' circular issued by the New Zealand Country Racing Clubs' Association for the purpose of considering an increase in the number of days of racing throughout New Zealand and the re-installation o£ the double machine. Mr. Albert Bruce, president of the Country Clubs' Racing Association was in the chair. The following resolutions were carried unanimously, viz.: "That in the opinion of this meeting of representatives of New Zealand racing, trotting and hunt clubs the number of totalisator permits and racing days throughout New Zealand should be increased." "That this meeting approves of the proposal that legislation should be introduced into Parliament on lines suggested in the draft bill submitted by the chairman of the meeting." "That before any action is taken to, promote the proposed bill in Parliament every effort should , be made to obtain the assistance and co-operation of the representatives of racing, trotting and hunt clubs." "That the Northern executive of the Country Glubs' Association be. appointed to take all necessary steps to carry out all foregoing resolutions, with power to , engage Mr. Skerrett, of Wellington, to Ire-draft the bill, with instructions to submit to the executive a copy of his draft, the same to be submitted to the New Zealand Racing Conference, all metropolitan clubs, district committees, Trotting Clubs' Association, chairmen of Auckland trotting clubs, and the representatives of hunt clubs, coupled with a suggestion of any amendments and • for their active co-operation in having the bill passed into law." The provisions of the proposed bill aim at an increase in the country clubs.
