It ir, announced that the conference ot the Colonial Office National lielief Fund placed £250.000 at the disposal of the Overseas Settlement Committee for the assistance of persons who Have eufferod hardship in war and de-ire to emigrate to the Dominion*.
Another quarter of a million will l>e available later if required. The Dominions" representatives have agreed that the money shall be used to pay railway and shipping fares, a,nd buy outfits of clothing and provide maintenance until employment is found. Applicants, who will mostly be pemone seeking employment, must be approved by the High Commissioner or Agent-Cieneral. The scheme operates immediately.
