Mr. T. Bloodworth held a meeting of his supporters as a candidate for Parnell electorate in St. Aiiian's Parish Hall, Remuera, for the purpose of forming a committee to canvass that district. Bishop Julius, in his presidential address to the Christchurch Diocesan Synod on Tuesday, made lengthy reference to the questions arising out of the charges against the vicar of St. Michael's, of departure from the practice of the ChuTch as set out in the Prayer Book. His Lordship emphasised the principal upon which his judgment was based, and said that doubts and diversities as to practice and ceremonial might arise from ambiguity of the Rubrics, and the directions of the Book of Common Prayer, from long-etanding custom and tradition, or from change of circumstances. "We may take it for granted," his Lordship added, "that no rules or regulations can be framed which do not admit of ambiguity, and that in the course of centuries questions of doubt and diversity must increase in number. Many of these will be resolved when the revision of the Prayer Book, now nearly completed, has been adopted by the Church of the Province."
