FRUIT MARKET.
WHOLESALE PRICES FIRMER. SYDNEY GROWN IN DEMAND. All classes of fruit have advanced in price during the week, Sydney fruit in particular making record prices. A small shipment of choice mandarins sold from 36/ to 44/, whilst others made from 30/ to 32/6. Pines are likewise exceptionally dear, cases realising from 32/ to 37/. Quarter cases of passions are selling from 27/15 to 29/. Choice lemons are in keen demand, American, containing 30 dozen, selling at 50/ to 55/. Pears from 212/ to 23/6. Apples: Stunners, 16/0 to 17/3; Doughertys, 15/G to 10/. Island oranges. 2S/ to 20/. Bananas, 27/ to 29/ G. Local oranges, 14/ to 15/, and Poornians, 10/6 to 11/ G. Peanuts, 10Jd. I Dried peaches, fid. New potatoes, 3d to "i<L, extra choice 4d. Asparagus, 10d to 1/1. American oranges, 40/ to 42/6. Onions, 32/6 crate. Potatoes, 13/ to 14/. Bananas are still retaining high prices, sales to-day being made at 30/ for choice ripes. The above prices were realised at auction by A. B. Donald, Ltd. RADLFA" AND COMPANY. The following prices were realised by Messrs. Radley and Co. to-day: Sturmera from 14/ to 17/, Dougherty 13/ to 16/6, Californian oranges 39/ to 42/, repacked Island oranges 25/ to 2S/, ripe bananas 3id lb. Cauliflowers made from 2/6 to 6/, cabbages from 2/ to 10/. Southern potatoes from 14/ to 15/, new potatoes from 3d lb to 4d lb. rhubarb from 5d to 1/ bundle, lettuce from 3d to Sd. In produce all lines stand firm. Wheat at 8/, maize S/, oats 5/6. pollard £9 10/, bran £S IS/, and chaff £13 10/. ' E. TURNER AND SONS. Messrs. E. Turner aud Sons realised goßd prices at sales to-day. Fruit being in good demand, prices were a little higher than last sale, Delicious apples making up to 22/6 per ease, choice Doughertys 17/G, mediums 15/6, choice Stunners" 16/0, mediums 15/-, Cleopatras 16/6, Commerce 15/- to 15/6, Rokewoods 15/G, London Pippins 15/6; pears, choice P. Barry's 24/-, poorer grades 19/- to 21/-; Island oranges 27/6 to 28/-, local sweet oranges from 9/- to 14/- per case; Poorman oranges, choice 14/3, medium 10/- to 11/-; tree tomatoes 15/6 per case; lemons, choice 20/-, good medium 16/- to 17/6; ripe bananas 26/- to 28/0; strawberries up to 2/10 per chip; Fiji pines 21/6 to 25/6 per case.
For produce the following prices were realised: —Southern potatoes 13/- cwt., new potatoes firsts 33d lb; new potatoes seconds l}d to 2Sd; hot-house cucumbers up to 12/7 doz.; rhubarb 7/- doz.; cauliflowers, firsts S/- doz., mediums 5/- doz.; cabbages, firsts 4/o doz., mediums 2/1 doz.; celery lid bundle; lettuce 1/1 doz.; carrots 1/5 doz.; parsnips 1/7 do7_; aeparagus 1/- to 2/- bundle; beets 1/7 doz.
Dairy produce is also making good prices, as follows:—Butter from 1/5 to 1/7 lb; eggs from 1/11 to 2/OJ doz.; pickled eggs 1/4 doz.
In the poultry section, turkey gobblers made from 17/- to 20/-; turkey hens 11/- to 13/-; roosters, heavy S/----to 10/4; rooters, medium and light 0/6; hens, heavy 7/- to 10/3; hens, medium and light 4/9 to 5/9; chicks 1/-; ducks, heavy 5/6 to 7/-: ducks, medium and light 3/6 to 4/3; ducklings 1/6 to 2/1.
