NEEDS OF EDUCATION.

AN AUCKLAND DEPUTATION. (By Telegraph—Special to "Star.") ■W-EL-JXGTON, this day. The Minister of Education was interviewed to-day by Messrs. Lang, Poland, Harris, Parr, Rhodes, Bollard, J. S. Dickson, Reed, and Poole (members of the House), and Messrs. Gow and Garland (of the 'Legislative Council), who urged the necessity of increased grants for educational purposes in the Auckland dist trict on the lines suggested by the recent conference. Special stress was laid on the necessity for larger playing areas, and improved salaries. Hon. Sir F. Bell replied that the education estimates had been settled, and a substantial amount allocated to Auckland. There would be an education bill this session, and he advised the deputation to again consult him.
