ENTERTAINING JACK TARS.

AN APPEAL TO CITIZENS. An effort is being made to get Auckland citizens individually to entertain men from H.M*. New Zealand during the vessel's stay here. There is nothing tiiat the sailor likes better than to be taken for a few hours into a family circle, where he may enjoy some of the home life of which he sees so little. Smoke concerts, luncheons, and other entertainments en masse are very well in their way, but on their own showing the men like individual kindness much more. An appeal is therefore made to citizens who are willing to entertain members of the New Zealand's crew, cither individually or in small parties. It is suggested that invitations to have d'nner and spend the evening would be the most acceptable arrangement. AH who are willing to help should send their names and addresses, with other particulars, to the secretary of the Citizens' Committee, Mr. H. C. TewsJey, Chamber of Commerce. The necessaiy arrangements will be made with the •ship's company at the clubrooms, which are to be provided on the wharf.
