DEVONPORT BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The fortnightly meeting of the Devonport Borough Council was held last evening, Cr. .1. Fletcher being in uhe chair. There were also present: Crs. T. Palmer, G-I'c-irce, G. Pilkington, G. I.uxford, J. Mays and W. -Perry-Taylor.

Motor Bus Service.—The Devonport Ferry Company wrote referring to the inadequate I—-ovi-ion for motor bus accommodation during rush hours, stating that at present it is impossible to make provision for meeting the demand for further accommodation. during rush hours by adding to the number of buses already in use, as the present staff is worked to the limit, and the trade is such .that it does nat warrant an increase ot ■plant and staff. It waa proposed, however, to lessen the congestion by making a minimum fare of ad from Victoria wharf via Victoria and Albert Roads to Vauxftwiii store, on the outward journey only. This alteration is also made necessary by additional working cost. The directors were also stated to have found it necessary to increase the cost of the concession tickets to Narrow Neck.

Mount Cambria Water Supply.—Cr. Luxford reported a conference wit—. the ißev. H. M-jison, and a visit -with him to Vauxhall Road. Mr. Mason was of the opinion that -the drive on the hill should -be abandoned, and that the Council should continue its operations on the lowest levels adjoining Vauxhall Road. Discussion was deferred until the Rev. Mason's report was to -hand. .TeEicoe Entertainment Committee. —A telegram was received from the Mayor Statj ing that Admiral Jellieoe had consented t« ! receive an illuminated address. A subcommittee, •with power to make arrange i me_ts, was appointed, consisting of th# j Mayor, Crs. Perry-Taylor, Luxford, and Fletcher.
