ROADING THE NORTH.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) KAITAIA, this day. Dredging operations were etarte;! in the Kaitaia River on .Saturday, when the dredge was officially started,, prominent residents taking part. At the last meeting of the Mangonui County Council, Colonel Allen Bell put forward a scheme for the expenditure of a further £40,000 for good roads in the western area of Kaitaia, making a total of £04,000. Tho scheme was unanimously approved by the Council. This will complete the whole of the main and arterial roads within the area. At the same meeting Councillors Carton and Matthews put forward a proposal for a loan of £30,000 for the main ronds in the eastern area of Mangonui. This proposal was also unanimously accepted.
