D'ANNUNZIO'S RAID.
MISLEADING THE TROOPS. MANY RETURN TO UNITS. (By Association.—Copyright.) (Received 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, September Iβ. The troops who are still with Gabriel d'Annunzio in Fiume mostly believed their officers' statements that the Italian Government approved of the Fiume enterprise. A number returned to their units when they discovered their error. Leaflets are being distributed wholesale, and affixed to the walls in Fiume for the purpose of exciting the troops. Some leaflets say that the Nltti Cabinet has resigned, while other unfounded statements include the assertion that American and British troops at Fiume have embarked in consequence of the raid. — (A. and X.Z. Cable.)

The Allied garrison remained in barracks. The Italian Government disavows d'Anmmzio's action. The Supreme Council to-dny investigated d'Annunzio'a raid on Fiume. Itis now stated that the raiders hauled down tho British and French flags. Marshal Foch participated in the consultation, from which a satisfactory settlement is anticipated. It is pointed out that contrary to assertions of Home newspapers the British have not opposed Italian interests in tho Adrirtic— (A. and XX Cable.)
