N.S.W. TOWN ALARMED. | _ I UNCANNY NOISES AT NIGHT. ! SVn.VKV. August. I. A lion is reported to be roaming at large in the bills around the village of Yeovil. I A well known resident, while fox : hunting, ran across the tracks of a strange animal. Soon afterwards lie saw a lion at close quarter's, but riot having I sutiicient heavy ammunition he did not I shoot. He ran for assistance, and -parties of hunters were organised. They saw the lion but were finable to bag him. Uncanny howls have been heard by a number ef settlers in the vicinity at night, and the unusual tracks of a large ! aniinc! have ben sen by numerous I people. A monster limit ing party is | being organised to beat the bush thoroughly. It is thought Hint (he lion is identical with an animal which is reported to have ' es. uncd from a circus at I'.-ak Hill a few weeks ago.
