BREACH OF AWARD.
HOTEL LICENSEE FINED. Mr. G. R. A. "Whiting, Inspector of -Awards, hailed Stephen Keogh, licensee of the Prince Arthur Hotel, before Mr. F_ C. Cutten, S.M., to-day on a charge that he had failed to allow the porter a full 24 hours' holiday each week. Mr. Whiting, Inspector of Awards, stated that the defendant had given the porter two half-holidays in place of the who day in order to enable him to work the lift between the kitchen and the diningroom during breakfast and lunch. Mr! Lowrie, on behalf of the defendant, submitted that no deliberate breach of the award was intended; the defendant had not paid sufficient attention to the terms of the award. A fine of £ 1 and costs was imposed.
