LAND FOR SOLDIERS.
THE MOEKANGI BLOCS. IJGHT Ii.ULWAY SUGGESTED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Monday. At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce to-night the president, !Mr. G. Parr, urged that the Mioerangi block of 40,000 acres, near Kawhia, should be thrown open for .selection by soldiers, and a light railway built from it to Hamilton. This land was acquired by the Government eorae time ago for soldiers' farms, but so far has not been opened up. Mr. Parr said the block consisted of good land, with plenty of millable timber, and was only about 20 miles from Hamilton. If a light railway was laid to Hamilton lit would provide work for eoldiers, it could carry the timber, and the land would be cleared at the same time. It was decided to urge the Government to open the block, and to build a light j railway as suggested, and also to ask the I Borough Council and Repatriation Comimittec to support the proposal.
