INTRIGUE IN BRITAIN. PLANS FOR SOVIET REPUBLIC. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.! LONDON, August S. The Swede arrested in connection with the Bolshevik plot is one Zacharassen, who is charged that he delivered a sealed packet to a female extremist, who denies complicity. Zacharassen has been deported. The Swede's confession implicates a certain extremist organisation with which the female was connected. The police seized at Plaistow plans for the formation of an English Soviet republic, the documents affirming that arms and bombs were secreted at certain spots at' Plaistow. Responsible British Labour leaders are not implicated in the plot, but there is a danger that they may unwittingly become tools. Although it is believed that the plot been overthrown, its effect is expei to be felt in many quarters of Bri in the near future. —- (United Service LOOTING THE UKRAINE. STOCKHOLM, August 8. Fetrograd advices state .that the Bolsheviks have started a food offensive against the Ukraine. Detachments of - several thousands of soldiers, with ma-chine-guns and 'field guns, have been ordered to seize all the food possible, in order to save Petrograd and Moscow from certain famine.— (Reuter.)
