3IASTERTON', this day.
The present -world wide unrest in Labour circles was referred to by Mr. J. G. Cooper, managing director, at the annual meeting of the Wellington Fanners' Heat Co. at Masterton. "The war being over does not by any means eliminate our difficulties, as a huge world struggle, such as this war, has created difficulties of its own," said Mr. Cooper. "It is therefore in the interests of all Sections of our population to endeavour to pull together to meet and overcome ibese great difficulties. One of the fineet auguriee for the future, in my opinion, ■was the recent conference in 'Great Briiain between the workers and employers, and «Jtnough the coal trouble appears ±o be still rather acute we have reason to have great faith, in the Labour leaders in assisting to put matters right, because we at this end of the world have to remember that the chief market for our products after all is Great Britain. If at is prosperous prices for our commodities will be good, and should the reveree be the case, then we are bound to feel it. As far as Xew Zealand is concerned we hear a lot about labour unrest, but fortunately your board of directors have never felt anything of thi* Bupposed unrest. Our only labour troubles have been difficulty in securing sufficient skilled labour, particularly slaughtermen. Apart from this we have found the spirit of our men excellent, and the company has every reason to, congratulate itself on the active assistance and co-operation of its employees of all grades." .
