JAPAN IN CHINA.
ONLY ECONOMIC CLAIM. LONDON, August 7. Viscount Uchida, the Japanese Foreign Minister, emphasises that Japan only claims the economic privileges previously granted to Germany. Japan, he states, is prepared to withdraw her troops. He declares that Japan will be faithful to the pledge to China given in 1915, and is willing to restore the whole of the Kiau-Chau territory to China immediately China has ratified the Peace Treaty with Germany. Further, Japan does not claim any rights affecting the territorial sovereignty of China in the province of Shantung.— (Reuter.)
