DAIRY FACTORIES' AWARD.

At a conference of the South Island Dairy Association and the Otago and Southland Assistants' Union a settlement ■was reached regarding wages. The rates in first grade factories of 400 tone, and over are: First assistant £4 15/ per ■week,' second assistant £4 2/6, third £3 15/. The rates in the second grade factories of 300 to 400 tons are: £4 10/, £4, and £3 10/. Third grade factories of 150 to 300 tons: £4 5/, £3 15/, and £3 5/. Fourth grade, of 51 to 150 tons: £4 and £3 5/. Fifth grade, £3 6/6. Learners up to 20 years £2 per week for one season, and thereafter according to scale. All casuals receive 1/6 per hour.
