INFLUENZA' PRECAUTIONS.
BLOCK SYSTEM IN. CHEISTCHURCH. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. ] The City Block Committee has divided { the city into blocks as a precaution i against another outbreak of influenza. ' i The Mayor (Dr. Thacker, M.P.) stated c to-day that inquiries into the recent cases 1 of pneumonia showed that they were of ; the serious, but not the virulent type. It f had been agreed that it -was necessary to : warn the public that all the old precau- c tions should be adopted. If a person's temperature rose he should go to bed and should not be visited. Garbage should be 1 cleaned up and disinfected, and crowds f should not congregate. "This is not an t alarmist thing," the Mayor added, "but is a warning, in view of next week's gatherings."
